The Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (PU for CHE) was founded 150 years ago in 1869.

All former Puk-students, young and old, current NWU-Pukke as well as all ‘Oud-Pukke’ are cordially invited to this festival. At the festival you will be able to reunite with old friends and enjoy a day filled with nostalgia and make some new memories.

The day’s program includes performances by well-known Puk artists such as Johan van Rensburg (formerly from Noot vir Noot), Danie Niehaus, Anna Davel, ‘the Bourbons Broers’, Ghapi and other famous artists. The festival will also feature singsongs and speeches from the ‘President of Tarentaal’, a humorous old Puk-tradition. Besides the ‘President of Tarentaal’ the morning program also consists of short five-minute speeches from a few former chancellors and vice-chancellors. There will also be a sit-down meal for those who are interested.

The afternoon’s events will be more informal with food stalls, artists’ performances, a cash bar and time to socialize with attendees. Space is limited therefore all Pukke are advised to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. All the details about the festival, the day’s proceedings as well as ticket prices are available on the website (https://Puk150.co.za/). Professor Callie Coetzee, who was the student council president in 1969 when the Puk was 100 years old, is the chairman of the organizing committee of the PUK150 Festival. Others on the committee include Dr. Theuns Eloff, the former vice-chancellor, Dr. Ben de Klerk, Tom Larney as well as other former student council chairpersons including Dr. Pieter Mulder, Adéle Croucamp and De Wet Coetzee.

Seeing as this festival is organised independently by former Puk-students, any donations and sponsorships are welcome. Further details are available on the PUK150 Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/364799714163536/).
